NokarOnline: a grocery storefront redesigned and developed in about three weeks.

We redesigned and developed NokarOnline's grocery storefront, checkout and selected operational workflows, using AI-assisted development under human direction. NokarOnline, our sister company, has fulfilled more than 51,000 orders since 2017, online and in person, so every change was made on a working business.

These stages work: one payment fault was found in testing and corrected before that version was ever installed. The load test covered browsing, search and the basket on the live shop. Checkout, payment and account creation were not load-tested.

01

The challenge

A shop that sells groceries and household goods in full packs needed a modern website designed first for phones, with a fast checkout, accurate product facts, safe payments and the tools to run the business behind it, within a few weeks.

02

What we built Built · target launch 29/10/2026

  • A redesigned shop on WordPress and WooCommerce, designed phone first, with one brand sheet for colours, type and wording.
  • A custom shop plugin: departments, an always-visible basket, the checkout, cancel and refund, order emails and speed settings.
  • Payments processed through Stripe and PayPal: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. The shop does not store full card numbers.
  • A basket check: a basket left for days is checked against current prices and stock before payment.
  • A catalogue from supplier data: pack sizes and counts taken from supplier information.
03

How we tested it

Significant changes to checkout, payment and the phone experience pass four separate stages:

  1. BuildDeveloped and self-tested
  2. ReviewIndependent code review of the exact change
  3. TestTested by a separate tester who has not seen the build
  4. ApproveThe owner approves and installs, with an undo file
  • Automated tests for the shop plugin, plus a recorded load test and a security check run from GitHub.
  • Payments tested in Stripe's test mode and with £1 test orders. Testing found a version that could have charged a slow payment twice; it was corrected before it was ever installed.
  • Screens are checked against their approved drawings before hand-over.

Security and reliability

  • Hosting with page caching, and Cloudflare in front for secure connections, security rules and bot protection.
  • A security check led to stronger connection and browser-security settings, applied by the owner.
  • When automated bots overloaded the shop's filter pages, a Cloudflare protection rule was added.
  • We limit customer-data access, use synthetic data where practical, and apply agreed redaction and retention controls.
  • Security-sensitive changes require the owner's authorisation and an agreed access and review process.

An AI project office

The founder owned project decisions; AI assistants supported development, review, testing and reporting.

  • Weekly progress reports prepared from the project's records.
  • One ordered list of the actions only the owner can take.
  • A dated change log for live changes, with the previous setting and the way back.

Tools to run the business Working from downloaded reports

  • Profit by product for each Amazon store, from sales reports, supplier invoices and courier labels.
  • Listings losing money, with the break-even price for each, so prices can be corrected.
  • Supplier-price comparisons for reviewed product matches, with uncertain and unmatched lines flagged.
  • Courier and invoice checks: labels matched to orders, and supplier invoices matched to the bank statement.
  • A team portal for stock questions and courier file uploads, designed to remove personal details on the device before upload.

These tools work from downloaded reports. Direct connections to Amazon and the courier are planned.

Next: ordering with AI Proposed design

The website opens on 29/10/2026. The other ways to order are designed to end in one basket that the shopper sees and approves before anything is charged; each will follow only after it passes its live test.

The proposed next phase uses an API-based platform to connect future apps and AI ordering channels. Its AWS hosting design is under review; these integrations are not yet live.

Technical note: the shop plugin is about 21,000 lines of PHP with about 45 automated test files (counted 25/10/2026). AI assistants carried out development, code review and testing under human direction. No customer data, revenue or profit figures appear on this page.
